Pemba Island is Zanzibarโs quieter, greener and less visited northern sister island, lying approximately 80 kilometres north of Unguja in the Indian Ocean and offering a markedly different experience from the more developed southern island; deeper, wilder and more culturally authentic in almost every respect. Pemba is widely regarded among serious scuba divers as one of the finest dive destinations in the entire Indian Ocean, with dramatic underwater walls plunging hundreds of metres into the deep channel, pristine coral reefs, abundant pelagic fish, sharks and exceptional visibility in waters that see a fraction of the diver traffic found around Zanzibar. The islandโs interior is a landscape of dense clove plantations. Pemba produces more cloves per hectare than anywhere else on earth rolling green hills, mangrove estuaries and traditional Swahili villages where the pace of life remains genuinely unhurried. Pemba is accessible by light aircraft from Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam and its combination of world-class diving and authentic island culture makes it essential for discerning Indian Ocean travellers.
Properties for Pemba Island will be added soon.
