Serengeti National Park

About Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti National Park is Tanzania’s most iconic wildlife destination and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, covering approximately 14,750 square kilometres of endless golden savanna, riverine woodland, rocky kopjes and open plains that stretch unbroken to the horizon in every direction. The park is home to the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth, the Great Wildebeest Migration where over 1.5 million wildebeest, 500,000 zebra and hundreds of thousands of gazelle move in a continuous clockwise circuit following rainfall and fresh grass across the ecosystem year-round. Beyond the migration, the Serengeti supports Africa’s largest lion population, exceptional leopard and cheetah sightings, enormous elephant herds, and over 500 bird species. The park is divided into distinct zones Seronera in the centre, Ndutu in the south, the Western Corridor and Kogatende in the north each offering a different chapter of the same extraordinary wilderness story.
